A note on policies, transparency, and our shared journey

1/25/2026

Dear all,

You may have noticed some changes to our protocols, the website, and how we handle tickets. This message is to share context, outline general expectations, and reaffirm our shared commitments to safety, inclusion, and respectful conduct.

Safety in kink and BDSM is nuanced and living. It’s shaped by the varied experiences and identities each of us brings. The documents we share are not final; they’re living and meant to adapt as we learn. When big changes happen, you’ll hear from us directly. As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.

We have introduced a new step in the ticketing process: a list of community agreements and commitments. We understand it’s a lot to read, but we hope it helps in clarifying expectations and individual responsibility that we ask each one of us to commit to every time we step into the space. You can also sign up for the newsletter there.

What’s new on the Main Menu:

- The FAQ tab has a small collection of general common inquiries.

- The Community Threads tab has a record of community-oriented communications: the whole accountability process is and will remain there. We will keep adding any communication that is relevant to community safety, empowerment, and enrichment.

- The Temple Policy tab leads to a set of interlinked documents that explain in detail how we are working to organize in the space. It includes general policies and etiquette, our goals for consent, vetting, and support, a description of the process of reporting, and our limitations as an organization.

A transparent look at some of the internal issues we’ve been facing:

We all wear many hats—organizers, facilitators, and community members. We have friends and partners in the community, and we know personal connections can complicate decisions. Our goal is to keep a clear line between our roles as members and as organizers, so we can keep enjoying personal relationships, education, and events as you all do, while maintaining a space that is open, welcoming, and inclusive without being driven by personal ties or preferences.

To reduce potential conflicts of interest, we’re stepping back from directly intervening in accountability matters beyond supporting folks in navigating the process.

In order to decrease the inherent power we hold as organizers, we will defer the intervention process to our external reporting team: this means that we are committed to not making decisions on behalf of others, especially when it comes to direct intervention. It also means that we are committed to following their recommendations as neutral mediators.

Deferring interventions to our external reporting team:

  • For incidents inside our space, we may take immediate action as needed, including filing a report for the external team to intervene. For behavior outside our space, we’ll guide conversations toward our reporting system, where trained people can lead interventions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Reports can be anonymous, and reporters can request the level of intervention or information sharing they’re comfortable with. Unless asked otherwise, details won’t be shared with the broader team.

  • We won’t have access to the report contents unless the reporter authorizes it.

A living, collaborative system

This system is new, and we need your participation to shape it. It asks all community members, when moved to discuss an experience of conflict, harm, or one that needs processing with others, to judge when that conversation should be moved forward as a report via official channels. If peer support is the only desired outcome for the conversation, a report may not be necessary, and privacy will be honored. If there is a desire for a particular action or response, an official report should be made via the incident report form.

Our shared purpose

Effective information-sharing and handling consequences require careful, intentional collaboration from the whole community. Our aim is to support abolitionist, community-centered approaches that avoid policing mindsets and the punitive expectations that pervade our society.

This is a long journey, and finding the right balance takes time. We’re committed to this work and grateful for your presence and contributions along the way.

Thank you for your care and ongoing engagement.

Temple - Mrghy, Syd, William, Dia, Masha
