Cosmic Frequency is a gathering where Megumi explores her relationship with Japanese culture through sound.

Over the past year, Megumi has welcomed small groups into intimate listening experiences, inviting guests to lie down, slow their breathing, and simply listen and rest.

Using her voice, tuning forks, chimes, and other resonant instruments, she creates a one-hour live performance inspired by her ongoing exploration of Japanese culture, nature, and the relationship between sound and presence.

The gathering closes with Japanese tea, snacks, and conversation.

Presenter Bio

Megumi Toyama is a musician, vocalist, and vocal coach from a small village in Tamba Sasayama, Japan, between Kyoto and Osaka. She moved to NYC at the age of 19 with a dream of singing at Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater. She holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Vocal Performance from the City College of New York and has spent years performing, composing, teaching, and exploring the expressive possibilities of the human voice. Her work bridges music, culture, and presence, reflecting her ongoing exploration of sound as a means of connection and expression.
