Not a consent 101. This is a 4 hour deep dive that breaks out of conventional models of consent used to hang on to the comfortable illusion of safety.
This class deals with uncomfortable realities of consent in kink and releasing yourself from the impossible task of creating a safe container for play. We will touch on practicing consent within the context of our nonconsensual oppressive society, personal and systemic trauma and confront the draw to danger, risk, and the eroticization of violation.
This class is for edgy players who want to explore the realms of play that cannot be contained in SSC or RACK and for those curious to expand their consent practice using a harm reduction framework that asks what happens when (not if) things go wrong?

This is a 4 hour class which is a pretty long time to be presented with a lot of intense (potentially triggering) information.
There will be planned breaks for folks to care for their bodies as needed. We encourage folks to do and bring what they need to in order to stay engaged with a long class!
The class is mostly lecture and discussion based. Feel free to bring supplies to take notes!
Instructor Bio:
Fig , LCSW, organizes kinky community in upstate NY and is a liberation centered, queer, trans, polyamory and kink-affirming mental health therapist of color. It works primarily with queer and trans folks, exploring diverse issues including systemic oppression, trauma, and dismantling sexual shame. It particularly loves anti-carceral relationship building and exploring kink as a therapeutic tool. Previous to becoming a therapist, Fig has experience as a queer trans and kink centered sex educator, pro dom and has been actively exploring kink for a decade.
In Fig’s personal life they are a faggy leatherfreak with a penchant for being the best community hole it can be. Fig has a mean sadistic daddy streak for those lucky enough to encounter her scary side. Fig loves creating pervy pleasure joy centered spaces for themself and other freaks. It has a voracious appetite for exploring the psychological effects of kink using different mediums including sadomasochism, rope, sharps, fluids and creative fucked up role play.
