If They’re Screaming, They’re Breathing

This class is in collaboration with Fireform, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit centering women's & femme empowerment, education, and community care.

An exploration of breathplay in rope, using heavy tension, body positioning, and simple uplines for restriction and control. 

The rope we see often takes our breath away, so let’s talk about how to do it in scene. In this class, we’ll be discussing different modalities of breath restriction and breath control as they relate to rope. To begin, we’ll demonstrate using heavy tension, challenging positions, and simple uplines to restrict breathing. Then we’ll walk through a suspension sequence that implements all of these tools.  This class will leave you gasping!

Pre-Reqs - Tops must have knowledge of uplines and body movements in suspension, and must have a suspendable front- and back-loadable chest harness, as well as a suspendable futomomo. Bottoms must be able to communicate under stress and have strong body awareness.

Bio:

Nova and Nevertheless have been tying together since 2018, and really amped up their tying relationship in 2023. Together, they have taught in their local Orlando community at Rope Study Group, serving as one of the two primary educator pairs focusing on intermediate and advanced skills, and at national conventions, such as Tethered Together and Ropecraft. Nevertheless has been educating since 2020, mainly as a Top, but recently shifted focus to educating as a bottom. Nova has been educating since 2021 as a Top, synthesizing her experience as a medical professional to her rope and kink. This tying pair brings ample Neuro-Spicy Info Dumps, Dad Jokes, puns, and witty banter to add playful levity to otherwise information-dense instruction.
