with Kasm and Anoxia

Rope can be a powerful medium for exploring desire, yet many of us fall back on familiar narratives and struggle to access fresh emotional terrain. This class introduces the use of devised character—character discovered through play—to help us break out of these patterns and find surprising new paths our rope practice can take us down.

Through guided exercises, we’ll explore tools for discovering characters and motives, expand our toolkit of non-verbal communication, and challenge paradigms about the role of rope in our scenes. Whether you’re new to rope, new to character work, or simply looking to shake up old patterns, this class offers an easy and welcoming entry point to attune to desire in rope.

Pre-requisites:
Come ready with curiosity and a willingness to engage with discomfort. Tying pairs should feel comfortable exploring the unknown together and have the negotiation skills necessary to navigate that exploration safely and consensually.

Equipment:
- 1-5 ropes
- Cutting tool
- Clothing that is easy to move in

Instructor Bios:
Kasm and Anoxia have been partners in life and in rope since 2018; tying, teaching, and performing together. They have presented in classes and intensives across the US, as well as at large kink conferences like Ropecraft, Kinkfest, Tethered Together, and Desert Bound.

Anoxia (they/them) is a switch based out of Chicago, who started in rope in 2015. Over the years, they’ve had the opportunity to study in many different styles with educators in the US, Europe, and Japan. They present classes which go beyond patterns and rote memorization to teach underlying principles relevant to students at any point in their rope journey. Nox also currently serves on the NARIX steering committee. In play, their rope is often intense, creative, dynamic, and charged with emotional sadism. Kasm (they/them) is a queer, kinky switch and self-tier who started teaching in 2018. In the classroom they prioritize personalized instruction and building an environment that is safe to flail in. In their personal practice they enjoy exploring intimacies and modes of play through the lens of rope bondage, with a focus on movement driven scenes and sadomasochistic play. They recently relocated to Chicago after coming up in the Seattle scene. They can be found as KasmOfRope on fetlife, and kasm.of.rope on instagram.
