Taut & Bound

with Master R and Toolboi

Taut & Bound is a rope study session focused on tying male-identified, masc-presenting, and non-binary bodies often underserved by rope bondage instruction. We ask: How do anatomical differences of masculine bodies shift the way we tie?

Each session opens with introductions and house rules, and may feature a guest instructor sharing techniques informed by their experience with masculine bodies. Structured practice with support follows, closing with a brief group discussion and open tying time.

Attendees should have a foundational understanding of rope bondage, including rope safety, risks and a single-column tie. This may be gained through Rope0, other classes or events, mentorship, or self-directed study.

This session is not suitable for absolute beginners, rope bottoms without a regular tying partner, those who do not switch,  or those who self-tie. Participants may attend individually, with the expectation of being flexible about switching partners, or attend as a pair with a regular tying partner.

Please bring rope and cutting tools. Wear clothes that are comfortable to tie in. No nudity is permitted in the space.

Facilitator Bios:

Tyler (he/him) is a queer artist whose work centers on rope bondage. He has been tying for ten years; his practice explores the internal and external dynamics of Dominant/submissive relationships through rope. Beyond performance, he is a community educator and organizer, producing events such as Bound Affairs: A Living Shibari Gallery and Out Young N Kinky (OYNK), a monthly kink education panel. He has taught at MMX Yoga, Knotty New York, Men Roping Men and serves as the instructor for shibari clubs at three colleges.

Zed Sheng aka Toolboi (he/him) is a performer, artist, educator,  and academic pursuing a PhD in performance studies. He has had experience being tied for over a decade, and is learning how to tie and switch over the past four years. He is married to his partner Tom, also known as Thiktool, and they have been co-teaching at various gay-centric kink and leather  events, including Kink Down South, Men Roping Men, and Cleveland Leather Awareness Weekend. CANCELLATION POLICY: you can reschedule once or ask for a refund up to 48 hours before the event. No refunds will be issued with less than 48 hours notice of cancellation.
