Wheel of Consent: Fall 2026 Series of Four Monthly Practice Circles
with Beth, Masha, and Rayn
How do we ask for what we want, express our limits, and stop simply “going along”? The Wheel of Consent, developed by Betty Martin, is a powerful framework that helps us tap into our desires and listen to our bodies. Each Monthly Circle will dive into a series of solo and paired exercises that explore a particular theme, along with foundational practices, like the 3-Minute Game. Come join us for one or all four, whether you are new to the Wheel or looking to deepen your practice every month!
Thursday, September 10: Noticing and Choosing: It’s a Practice!
This work begins with noticing first, and then putting it into practice. We will discuss and practice how to notice a yes and a no (and everything in between), and you will leave with actual tools you can use immediately to start choosing exactly what you want!
Wednesday, October 7: Why Don’t We Ask For What We Want? What Do We Do Instead?
We spend so much time and effort avoiding asking directly for what we want, for so many reasons. We are often left disappointed, or worse, doing something that we don’t actually want, and being out of consent with another or with ourselves. This circle is a collective experience in unpacking why that happens, and how we can release those patterns!
Thursday, November 12: Embodied NOs
Having a good NO makes a yes so much more accessible, and so much more delicious! Practicing saying and receiving NO helps us get it into our bodies, and releases the big feelings that we may hold. This is hard work, let’s do it together!
Thursday, December 10: It’s Good To Want!
This is our favorite circle! Tap into your deepest desires, practice wanting just for wanting sake, and notice how your body and brain start to light up with the possibilities!
Attendees are invited to participate by doing or observing, or request that the exercises be non-touch. Seating is mostly on the floor on mats (There are few seats available on a small couch.) We will have some cushions and pillows available. The space opens 15 minutes before the start of the circle.
PLEASE NOTE: Temple NYC is located on the second floor with no elevator and is not an ADA-compliant/accessible space. There are several sets of stairs and the bathrooms are not ADA compliant. Please let us know what accessibility needs you have and we will do our best to assist you.
Facilitators:
Beth (bethpoague.com) is a Certified Wheel of Consent Facilitator, trained in restorative practices and conflict resolution, including circle-keeping, transformative mediation, and group facilitation. Beth has a Master’s degree in Social Justice Educational Studies, with a focus on disability justice and inclusion.
Masha (theropejourney.com) is a rope organizer and facilitator that is inspired by the transformative potential of the consent-building aspects of the rope exchange. Wielding rope since 2018, her facilitation is informed by training in somatic trauma therapy and medicinal use of psychedelics, as well as many years of experience as a birth worker. Since 2022, she has been teaching consent in the context of rope and is moved by the possibilities of self-discovery and relational insight within the Wheel of Consent framework.
Rayn (she/her) is an inspired co-creator, space holder, seeker, and connector. As the Founder of Fireform, Rayn is interested in the interconnected power of the Feminine, and the relationship it has to our selves, our bodies, our pleasure, and the ways we move through the world. Rayn is an active member of the queer, kink, POC, and dance/rave communities, curious about the intersection of consent, mutual support, community care, and liberation in subversive spaces.
