This class explores techniques such as timing, tension and, pauses to create connection, deepen the sub-space, and create a flow in the scene. These methods draw from a range of styles from the smooth sensual erotic pacing of Yukimura to the intensity of semenawa offering tools to make your rope more intentional, immersive, and impactful. Rigger and models should leave with a better understanding of the style of rope scene they enjoy, and have the tools to create that scene. Rope is not the means to an end, but the journey itself.

Prerequisites:
Know how to tie an upper and lower body harness, preferably paired with a familiar partner
Both model and rigger must have evaluated their risk profile prior to class

Materials:
6-10 long ropes of 7-10m
Some short pieces of ropes will be useful as well
Cloth for gags/blindfold

Bio:
Tyler is a born and raised Brooklynite who first discovered shibari while in college. As a gay man, he was drawn to the iconic imagery of Tom of Finland, and the history and culture of their gay leather scene. His practice explores the internal and external dynamics of Dominant/submissive relationships through rope. Tyler is a community educator and organizer, producing events such as Bound Affairs: A Living Shibari Gallery and Out Young N Kinky (OYNK), a monthly kink education panel. Tyler currently teaches as an instructor for shibari clubs at three colleges. His work and perspective have been profiled in Envy Magazine, Sensitive Content Magazine, and at Art Prism.
