Authentic Movement
with Allyssa Rivera
Authentic Movement is a practice that encourages slowing down and listening deeply to the inner landscape of the body-mind. Rooted in somatic awareness, it invites participants to explore movement arising from internal impulses -such as sensations, emotions, images and memory- rather than external direction, technique or performance.
Working with eyes closed and supported by a compassionate witness, movers are encouraged to let their body lead. This is a practice of permission and non-judgment- there is no right way to move! Curiosity and attention to what wants to emerge and move is all that is needed.
This work can support deeper embodiment, self-awareness, and relational attunement within rope and kink practice. By tracking subtle shifts —the emergence of movement from within, the experience of being witnessed, and the impact of witnessing another— we’ll explore how awareness of sensation and boundary can inform clearer consent with self, more responsive connection, and greater capacity to stay present in moments of intensity or vulnerability.
This is a slow, consent-forward space emphasizing choice, agency, and integration. There is no rope or rope technique; instead, we center the lived, embodied experience that underlies every interaction in rope. No experience necessary, all bodies welcome.
